This painting by Daniel Boyd depicts a Vanuatuan man, perhaps a distant relative of Boyd, readying his bow and arrow to take shot at his target residing out-of-frame. The archer’s pose echoes the heroic stance of the great Greek warrior Achilles, who was eventually slain by the very same weapon brandished by the man in this painting.
