Exhibiting consistently since the late 1980s, Louise Hearman is one of Australia's most prominent contemporary painters. Hearman’s works are characterised by strange juxtapositions, eerie light, and have a strong emotional resonance. Hearman collects imagery for her paintings by photographing things she notices in her daily life. By combining commonplace imagery with personal visions of the unknown and the unknowable, Hearman hints at the wonders of the universe and the compelling nature of our nonverbal thoughts.
